Abstract: The journey about two Jesuit priests Father
Gabriel(Jeremy Irons) and Rodrigo Mendoza (Robert De Niro) who together try to salvage a mission in Brazil created for the Guarani people, whom are threatened by the Spanish.
Critique: In life everyone has a journey to reach a destination. Father Gabriel's journey in this film is to save a civilization from being destroyed by Spaniards. There are two factors which appeared to me while watching this film, which are courage and love. The brave act these two men underwent by trying to keep these missions alive was incredible, and there struggle to fight for them was even greater. A great film of the late 80's.
Recognitions: The Mission was nominated for 7 academy awards including best picture, it's most recognized award was for Best Cinematography.
