Abstract: A Jewish father and husband (Robert Benigni), protects his son from gaining knowledge about the Holocaust, after they are both taken from their home in Italy to a concentration camp.

Genre: Drama

Critique: The story about how far a parent is willing to go in order to secure a better life for their child. The purpose of Life is Beautiful is to explain how significant a role of a parent can be and to what lengths they will go to keep their children alive and safe.

Recognitions: Life is Beautiful was nominated for eight academy awards including, Best Picture, Directing and Best Original Screenplay. It won the award for Best Actor, Best Music, Best Score, and Best Foreign Language Film.
